He still wets the bed

By the time a child is around four years old, he is expected to be dry throughout the night.  Bed wetting beyond this age is not normal.  This condition is called enuresis and it occurs in males three times more than in females.

Some diseases can cause child to wet this bed.  Your pediatrician may check for urinary infections as well as problems in bladder control mechanisms,.  Should any of these conditions be present in your son, medications can usually correct the problem.

Enlist your child’s cooperation in dealing with the problem.  Discourage him from drinking fluids after dinner.  Ask him to urinated before going to bed.

Emotional stress may also cause bedwetting.  A child who becomes overly excited, angry or has experienced a major illness, recent death or some other family crisis may we his bed.  Helping your child conquer bedwetting takes time, understanding and patience.
